It includes 24 separate villages of single family homes, estates, townhomes and apartment houses. Its five parks, acres of lakes and ponds, conservation areas, wide well-maintained roads and premier commercial, educational, and recreational facilities are key factors in its winning of a top master-planned community award from the National Association of Home Builders.

This community, located in two islands in South Tampa, is desired by many buyers of Tampa homes because of its nearness to downtown Tampa and its views of the Port of Tampa. It also hosts the Tampa General Hospital, Peter O Knight Airport, Davis Island Yacht Club, Davis Islands Garden Club, Marjorie Park and Marjorie Park Municipal Yacht Basin. The original Mediterranean-style structures, built by Tampa real estate visionary David P. Davis in the 1920s and 1930s, have been designated historic buildings.
