The Tampa real estate market is alive as prospective home buyers continue to look at Tampa homes and as businesses continue to make capital investments and create more jobs for residents and migrants to Tampa.
Here are items of good news for Tampa homeowners, prospective Tampa home buyers, investors and for those in other U.S. states who have been considering moving to Tampa:
Savtira Corporation
Savtira, an e-commerce solutions provider that chose Tampa over other technology hubs such as Atlanta and Austin, is set to hire at least 265 employees in the next 18 months. These include web developers and designers, software engineers, websphere architects, merchandising managers and tablet developers.
Savtira executives said that they selected Tampa because of its good business climate, affordable cost of living, great weather, well-educated workforce, community amenities and cultural activities.
Verizon Wireless
This joint venture company of Verizon Communications and Vodafone has already invested more than $2.2 billion for wireless network services in Tampa and in other cities in Florida since its start in 2000. In the first half of 2011, it has spent $131 million to roll out its fourth generation long-term evolution network.
Humana
This Kentucky-headquartered firm, the biggest Medicare health plan contractor in Florida, will hire another 200 employees for its call center operations at NetPark, increasing its total workforce in the Tampa Bay area to about 2,400 by the end of the third quarter.
Southern Graphic Systems
Southern Graphic acquired the facilities of Photoengraving Inc., a prepress graphics firm launched in 1953 and operating in Tampa’s Enterprise Zone, and allotted $1.2 million for building improvements and equipment purchases. It plans to hire up to ten additional employees to boost the 33-man staff from Photoengraving.
Xcelience
Xcelience has been providing research and early-stage drug development services to global clients since its launching in 1997. With its fast growth despite the economic crisis, it expects to more than double its employment in the next three years.
The firm will expand its existing facility and develop a nearby facility to house 45 new employees. Xcelience’s job opportunities are a boost to chemist and formulation managers who expect to receive salaries 115 percent higher that the Tampa Bay area’s average annual salaries.
PwC US
This Big Four advisory firm, which has around 2,000 practice partners and staff in Tampa, showed its confidence in the Tampa community when it leased an office building for use starting in 2013. This is also a big boost to Tampa real estate professionals specializing in commercial deals.
Trammell Crow
This company has started rezoning for its mixed-use project on four city blocks in Tampa’s downtown business district. It will include a 20-story office building, a 350-room business class hotel, and a 1,200-car parking garage. It will be near transit systems and the Center for Advanced Medical Learning and Simulation (CAMLS) facility being constructed by the University of South Florida.
