Home sales data in Hillsborough County from March to June 2012 showed that homes for sale in New Tampa continued to be the best selling properties in the county. Data from the Greater Tampa Association of Realtors (GTAR) showed that New Tampa surpassed all other communities in the county in sales of single-family homes, condos and townhomes.
In June, a total of 120 homes in New Tampa were sold, an increase of 26.32% from 95 units in March. From this March figure, it increased by 8.4% to 103 homes in April, and by 10.7% over the month to 114 homes in May.

From above home sales data, we can see that New Tampa was the only one that had sales volumes in three digits over the three-month period. It surpassed the second top selling community, Greater Sun Center, by 39.2% in April, 34.1% in May, and nearly 56% in June.
New Tampa is an unincorporated area of 18 square miles or 11,599 acres in Hillsborough County that includes zip codes 33592, 33637 and 33647 and has a population of 13,090 as of the 2010 U.S. census. It is northeast of the city of Tampa and lies just north of Thonotosassa and Temple Terrace. To its west is Lutz and to its east are Knights and Antioch.
About one-fifth of the area is urban and built up, one percent is occupied by golf courses, 3.4% is open land, and nearly 24% are upland forests, including the Flatwoods Wilderness Park. The rest are wetlands, rangelands, and agricultural land.
