In the first ten months of the year 2012, Hillsborough County, where Tampa is located, was the top-selling county in the Central West and Southwest Florida real estate markets. A total of 15,202 Hillsborough homes were sold over the 10-month period from January to October 2012, representing nearly 16% of the Southwest and Central West Florida’s total home sales over the period.

Second was Pinellas, which posted $2.535 billion, and third was Orange, which posted $2.515 billion. The two other counties that posted over a billion dollars in home sales were Sarasota, which posted $2.2 billion and Manatee which posted $1.228 billion.
In October, the most recent month with sales data, the five counties with the highest median sales prices were Manatee, Sarasota, Sumter, Seminole and Hillsborough.
