Florida Real Estate Market in December: 7 Counties Had 4-Digit Sales

Seven counties energized the Florida real estate market in December, each surpassing the 1,400-unit level, with Broward County selling a total of 2,599 single-family homes, townhomes and condos, the highest number of closed sales among the state’s 67 counties. The seven counties contributed a sales total of 13,298 units, accounting for 50.2 percent of Florida’s total residential sales in December 2012.

As shown in the list above, counties in the Tampa Bay Area are among the most desired markets. Hillsborough County, where Tampa is located, led with a total sales of 1,567 units. Among Tampa Bay’s top attractions are its waterfront homes, historic districts, beaches, resort-style residential compounds, and retirement communities. Tampa Bay is also proud of the McDill Air Force base, Tampa International Airport, Port of Tampa, Busch Gardens, University of South Florida and its medical, biotechnology, information technology and research facilities.

In terms of home prices, it was Monroe County that posted the highest median sales price for all single-family homes, townhouses and condos sold. Monroe is located in Southeast Florida, where Florida’s second largest city and Alpha-World City, Miami, is also located.
