Global biopharmaceutical company Bristol-Myers Squibb has leased 70,000 square feet of office space at 5104 Eisenhower Boulevard in Northwest Tampa, near the Tampa International Airport, to house its new North America Capability Center. This center will support the company’s biopharmaceutical business across the U.S. and will need 579 professionals in information technology, finance services, marketing services and other business services.
Bristol-Myers Squibb is a multinational company based in New York City which attained $17.6 billion in net sales in 2012 and which invested $3.9 billion in biopharmaceutical research and development in the same year. It had received numerous prestigious awards including the National Medal of Technology, the Prix Galien Award and the Lasker Award for Medical Research. It has also been recognized year after year as one of the best companies for working mothers and for scientists and in helping enhance health, safety and environment in industry.
HealthPlan Services Will Invest $34.4 Million and Create Over 1,000 Jobs
This company is considered the biggest provider of sales, service and technology solutions to the managed care and insurance industry. It manages products and services that include medical plans like HMO and PPO, and insurance products such as life, disability, accident, critical illness, cancer, long-term care, dental, vision, and other related products.
HealthPlan will build a 95,689-square-foot facility along Lakeview Center Drive and will hire up to 1,000 employees by 2018 to add to its current roster of 652
employees in Hillsborough County and another 119 employees working in other places across Florida. Among the jobs that will be created are in the lines of information technology, accounting, marketing, management, pension fund administration and insurance, and these will pay a minimum average annual salary of $47,581.
Synergy Health Moves Downtown and Adds 40 New Jobs to Its 100 Existing Jobs
The U.K.-based specialist healthcare service provider Synergy Health PLC, which has 5,600 employees worldwide, provides sterilization services to hospitals in Europe, the Americas and Asia for medical devices, surgical instruments and reusable operating room textiles.
The relocation to downtown will make business easier for the company as will
operate closer to international partners and to the Tampa International Airport. It also aims to help push Tampa’s biotechnology initiatives including the Tampa Hillsborough Economic Development Corp.’s MediFuture project.
Granex Invests $6 Million to Create up to 50 New Jobs
Granex has started buildings its facility in Tampa to manufacture granite and
marble slabs using imported raw materials and to export finished products to Europe and the Americas. With plans to also distribute in the domestic market, it will hire up to 50 jobs in production, machine operation, marketing, sales, shipping and accounting.
