Tampa homes sold at prices within the range of $200,000 to $250,000 were the best sellers over the five-month period from April to August 2012, based on data published by the Greater Tampa Association of Realtors (GTAR). These higher-priced homes even surpassed the monthly sales performances of the less-than-$50,000 homes, which were perpetually the top-sellers since the start of the housing downturn. These bargain-priced homes were purchased usually in twos, threes or more by investors from around Florida, the country or other countries.
A total of 916 homes for sale in Tampa within the $200,000 to $250,000 price range were purchased over the five-month period, accounting for 11.4% of the 8,029 housing units sold.
Seven price ranges were always occupying the top-performing lists over the five-month period, and even over the months prior to this period. These were the $250,000 to $299,999; $200,000 to $249,999; $160,000 to $179,999; $140,000 to $159,999; $120,000 to $139,999; $100,000 to $119,999 and $1 to $49,999.

The other top performing high price range was $250,000 to $299,999. It was the fourth top performer in June and the fifth top performer in April. It also never left the Top Seven Performers list in all five months.
As of today, September 30, 2012, there are 569 homes listed within the price range $200,000 to $249,999 in Hillsborough County, where Tampa is located. In Pinellas County, there are 430 units. Pasco County has 222 units and Hernando County has 40 units. All in all, these four counties in the Tampa Bay area has a total of 1,261 units. A survey of homes for sale listed at $225,000 showed that most of these are single-family homes that have three bedrooms and two bathrooms and that are at least 1,700 square feet in heated living area.
