Amazon is set to build two fulfillment centers in Hillsborough and Polk counties that will surely add zest to the the Tampa Bay real estate market. Newly hired people coming from neighboring areas will need rental homes and in the near future, a number of regular employees will buy homes they will call their own.
Amazon operations are also expected to attract other businesses to locate in the area, increasing possibilities for real estate listings and purchases in the Tampa Bay region. The Amazon name will also help supercharge the Internet presence of Tampa Bay.
Amazon has announced its Tampa Bay plans on its website in October, saying it will build two fulfillment centers in Hillsborough County and in Lakeland with each center measuring more than one million square feet and will hire employees for more than 1,000 full-time Tampa Bay jobs.
Ruskin was not identified in the Amazon press release, but Tampa Bay news outlets over the following weeks said that USAA Real Estate Co., which works with Amazon for its real estate projects, has purchased land at South Shore Corporate Park in Ruskin.
At the Ruskin facility, employees will pick, pack and ship to customers smaller
items like electronic gadgets, books and consumer goods. The Lakeland facility
will process larger items like televisions using AAA Satellite TV signal, kayaks and other bulky appliances.
